Privacy Policy

SmartTool Studio · Last updated: 18 September 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how SmartTool Studio (“SmartTool Studio”, “we”, “us”, “our”) handles information in connection with the Android application Video Downloader - Video Saver (the “App”).

The short version: the App has no user accounts and no server of ours. Your downloads, browsing history, bookmarks and settings are stored only on your own device. Google Firebase processes pseudonymous usage, diagnostics and crash data for us, and Google AdMob and its advertising partners process data needed to supply and measure advertisements. Both are described in detail below.

1. Information you give us directly

None is required to use the App. There is no sign-up, no login, and no profile. We do not ask for your name, address, phone number, date of birth or photograph.

The only case in which we receive personal information is when you choose to email us (for support, feedback, or a data request). In that case we receive your email address and whatever you write in the message, and we use it solely to answer you.

2. Information stored on your device only

The following is created while you use the App. It stays on your device and is never uploaded to us. Download history, browser history, bookmarks, open tabs, settings and the vault PIN are excluded from Android cloud backup. Clearing App data or uninstalling removes this data, except for files already saved to the public Downloads folder.

Clipboard

To offer a one-tap download of a link you have just copied, the App reads your clipboard only while it is open and in the foreground, as Android permits. The copied text is checked on your device to see whether it is a supported link. It is not transmitted anywhere. We store only a short numeric fingerprint of the link on your device, so that we do not ask you about the same link twice.

3. Information collected automatically (Google Firebase)

The App includes services provided by Google under Google's own privacy policy. We use them to understand which features work, to find crashes, and to measure performance. We cannot use them to identify you personally.

ServiceWhat it receivesWhy
Firebase Analytics Automatically collected app lifecycle and interaction events, the custom event described below, and standard technical information including an app instance identifier, device model, operating system version, language, and approximate country. To see which features are used and where the App fails.
Firebase Crashlytics Crash and error reports: the technical stack trace, device model, operating system version, and limited technical App state. Our release logger removes download URLs, local file paths, file names and media titles from handled-error reports and diagnostic breadcrumbs. Unexpected crashes may still contain technical text produced by Android or a third-party library. To diagnose and fix crashes.
Firebase Performance Monitoring Timing measurements such as start-up time and network response times. To keep the App responsive.
Firebase Remote Config Country, language, time zone, platform and App version information, the Firebase App ID, package name and a Firebase installation identifier. To retrieve safety switches for advertising placements and other App configuration without shipping a new App version. Remote Config cannot enable an advertising placement that this App build does not support.

What our usage events do and do not contain

The App defines one custom usage event and sends it only when you ask it to. If detection fails and you choose to report the issue, the event contains the website's domain name only and a technical error code. Firebase also collects its standard automatic lifecycle and interaction events; we do not add search terms, download links, file names or media titles to those events.

We do not deliberately send a full media link to Firebase. Our analytics event keeps only the domain, and our release logger removes links and local media details from handled-error reports. Pages visited in the built-in browser are not recorded as analytics events or browsing history in Firebase.

Google AdMob (advertising)

The App is free and is paid for by advertising. Advertisements are supplied by Google AdMob, and may be filled by other advertising networks that Google connects to on our behalf (mediation). Your device shares the advertising data described below with Google and, where applicable, an ad partner selected through AdMob. We receive aggregated advertising reports rather than the underlying personal data.

What AdMob and applicable ad partners receive: your IP address (which may estimate approximate location), the Android advertising identifier and other device or app identifiers, device and app information, diagnostic information, and interactions such as app launches, taps and video views. This is used for advertising, analytics, measurement, security and fraud prevention under Google's privacy policy.

Advertising identifier

Because the App shows advertising, it declares the AD_ID permission and Google's advertising libraries can read your Android advertising identifier. That identifier is resettable, and it is not your name, email or phone number.

You can reset it or switch off ad personalisation at any time in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads (the exact path varies by device).

You may also notice two permissions named ACCESS_ADSERVICES_ATTRIBUTION and ACCESS_ADSERVICES_AD_ID. These belong to Android's Privacy Sandbox and are added automatically by Google's libraries.

Your consent, if you are in Europe

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the App asks for your consent before using your data for personalised advertising. The request is presented by Google's User Messaging Platform the first time you open the App.

You can change that answer at any time: Settings → Ad privacy options. That row is shown only where consent rules apply, which is why you may not see it.

Where advertisements appear, and where they never do

Advertisements may appear on the home screen, inside your library list, on the browser's own start page, and once when you close the player.

They never appear on top of a web page you are viewing in the built-in browser, never on the video player or the image viewer, never in the private vault, and never while you are choosing a format to download.

4. Permissions the App requests, and why

5. Other network connections

Besides Firebase, Google AdMob and the websites you yourself open, the App downloads publicly available advertisement and tracker blocklists from adaway.org and v.firebog.net. These are plain text files. Requesting them sends nothing about you beyond the ordinary information any web request carries, such as your IP address.

6. What we do not do

7. Third-party websites and content

The App contains a web browser. The websites you open in it are operated by other companies and are governed by their privacy policies, not by this one. We are not responsible for their content or their data practices.

You are responsible for how you use the content you download. Download only material that you own, that is offered for download, or that you otherwise have the right to save. The App does not enable downloading from services that use digital rights management.

8. Children

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. It is not part of Google Play's Designed for Families programme, and we do not mark our ad requests as directed to children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information by emailing us, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Your choices and your rights

10. Data retention and security

Information stored on your device remains until you delete it. Firebase data is retained according to Google's retention settings for our project and is deleted automatically after that period.

We apply reasonable technical measures to protect information, and traffic to Firebase is encrypted in transit. No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Because the App keeps your files on your own device, protecting that device — with a screen lock, and with the App's private vault PIN — is an important part of protecting your data.

11. International transfers

Firebase is operated by Google and processes data on servers that may be located outside your country, including in the United States. Google provides safeguards for such transfers under its own terms and privacy policy.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Policy. When we do, we will revise the date at the top of this page. Changes take effect when posted, so please review this page from time to time. Continuing to use the App after a change means you accept the updated Policy.
